Shule Yangu Initiative / / Tuesday, May 9th, 2017

Following the Presidential directive in 2015 to have all public school land titled, the Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning, NLC in partnership with Civil Society members formed the Shule Yangu Campaign to accelerate the protection and titling process of public schools. The campaign has an Alliance composed of Government, Public and Private Stake holders whose aim is to; Protect schools against illegal land grabs Support government to issue title deeds to public schools Support communities to own their schools As a stakeholder, ISK has pledged that Licensed Surveyors can waive their professional fees to survey each school. ISK has proposed that this amount be pegged on a minimum number of 20 schools per county. A briefing meeting between 17 interested surveyors including ISK Chair Stephen Ambani and the ShuleYangu team was held on 4th May at the ISK boardroom. The Cabinet Secretary has directed the survey checking fees be waived and has proposed to officially launch this initiative on 12th May 2017 in Eldoret.
